Q:  I have received my login information via email, however, I get wrong password / user id error when I try to login.
A:

This generally happens when you try to copy and paste your TraceMyIP.org login information. The operating systems' clipboards sometimes introduce extra characters into the clipboard due to various HTML design variables and the way your email web hosting company delivers content into your mailbox. Some free email account providers such as Yahoo! may interpret and display the HTML code sent to you via email differently.

To resolve the problem, simply type in your login information manually.

Q:  I've signed up for an account and the system indicated that I would receive a login information via email. I've checked my email and I don't see any emails from TraceMyIP.org.
A:

Depending on the type of the email service you are using, the delivery times may vary from a few seconds to hours. In general, we suggest that you wait 5-10 minutes. If the confirmation email is not received within this period of time, make sure to check your spam or junk folder or try using a different email service provider. Some free web based email account services tend to discard email correspondence that is commercial in nature often without the end user notification. Furthermore, some email consolidated accounts may have thousands of spam messages delivered to the inbox, creating high volume account loads where finding a message from a valid source may become impossible.

Q:  After I type in my login information and click on "Login" button, I get the screen that says "Your seesion has expired" and I'm unable to proceed.
A:  This will happen during the login process if the browser cookies that are used for a login session are being blocked by either your browser an antivirus application, such as Avast or a firewall. Try disabling your security applications that might be running in the background and try again. If that doesn't help, try using another type of a browser.

Q:  When I try to retrieve my password with the email address that I used to register with, I do not get any emails from TraceMyIP.org
A:  You can always email our support to help you to resolve any outstanding issues.

Q:  What if someone stole my TraceMyIP.org login information? Is this considered an identity theft?
A:

While having access to your TraceMyIP.org account brings an access to web statistics information, no critical damage can be done via accessing the provided information. TraceMyIP.org does not store any critical financial information such as the data stored by banks, automatic money transfer online services or any other financial institutions. Therefore, even if your account access has been compromised, the information obtained cannot be utilized for illegal activity such as an identity theft. An example of financial fraud activity would be creation of new bank accounts to illegally gain access to funds via common illegal money transfer schemes. Nevertheless, any account holder should be aware that if the credentials theft information is provided to the law enforcement, it could result in a criminal record initiation or arrest warrants issuance.

Q:  How can I make my account more secure?
A:

While TraceMyIP.org already provides the security to your account information, we strongly suggest that you keep your account login information away from public access. The safest way would be to write it down and avoid storing your account information on a computer, since the malicious virus code could always grant a complete access to your computer allowing stealing any type of information stored on your computer. Having good antivirus software installed on your computer along with a hardware router to protect you from the inbound Internet traffic, will dramatically improve the security of any type of financial or informational account data stored on your computer. If you consolidate all your accounts login information in a single MS Excel document, you can always password protect the document as an extra security measurement.
